The best resource for freely available books i have found is called hackershelf It has books for many other languages too, not only python! Have a glance at some of the books and pick one to suit your style.

There is also Dive into Python; this is one of the more acclaimed textbook for the Python programming language. Its edition corresponds to the version of Python, and if I am correct, this class is teaching us Python 2.
