I am curious to know what backgrounds are the students taking this course. I am a mechanical engineer with applied math background. Edit: so many responses! This post will provide a good corpus for analyzing student backgrounds later when the course is over. However in order to get more responses this post needs to be voted up.

I am a musician and freelancer. I'm 35. I have an academic background in language, linguistics and similar. I never programmed in my life, and it always bugged me. So, I'm here to see if I like it, and what I can learn from it. I can feel my brain needs rewiring in order to tackle this challenge efficiently! :) |
I'm a junior in high school, still trying to figure out what to do afterwards. I've always been good with computers and I thought this looked like a neat opportunity to learn programming.

Well, my background doesn't matter. Just wondering if someone will translate these 395 answers (at this moment...) and make some kind of histogram (age, country, profession?). I would do it if just I had the time...
Hmm, I wonder how you would start to aggregate this data.
[tempted to try to grab the data so I can mess around with it...]
I'm a sophomore high-schooler from Idaho. I read about Udacity in Popular Science, and I looked into it. I am really busy with school and stuff, but when I have time I learn a bit from this. All the best, MacGeek.
P.S. I love Macs!!!

I'm an Indian Sikh high school junior living in New Jersey. I've always loved programming and how things work, so naturally, I loved the opportunity to learn the basics of OOP and a new language again. Thanks!
