How many times have you clicked the "Progress" tab?

Even though I already checked all of my Final Exam answers, I still keep clicking the "Progress" tab, in anticipation of an official proclamation. Is there anyone else going through the "Are we there, yet?" syndrome?

This is only due to the poor communication policy by Udacity. They should really kepp the news section up to date. At the moment, the latest news item is the final exam reminder / extension -- however it should be that a) submission for the final exam is closed and b) exam grades are due in a few days time. Then let us subscribe to this by RSS and simply post and announcement when the grades are up. I've noticed this weaknesses throughout the course and think Udacity could benefit from shifting the official communication from the forums or hidden announcements under the homework tab to the news section so everyone is able to read it.

I agree with you that there is always room for improvement but we have to keep in mind that:

1/ the courses is completely free of charge to you.

2/ This is the first time they do it so you can't get it right all the time.

Agreed, but I think the official communications should be as visible as possible, not just tucked away on an announcements tab. Ideally, this sort of stuff should be posted to the fora pre-emptively, and linked/referred to heavily in the forum headers, announcements page, and emails. For the really important stuff, consistency and visibility should be paramount.

For all the frustration, though, with communication this first time around, they've still done a pretty good job offering this class overall. I just can't wait to see how it gets better!

I often took the train before I needed to buy a car. I like to travel on the tracks (read a book, watch the landscape...) but one of the things that make passengers get upset, is when train connections fail - and no communication about it happens (why did this happen? when's the next connection? and so on). If there is an explanation, people aren't suddenly happy, of course - but they relax.

The course was fantastic - and the grading is worth some waiting.

Personally I wouldn't mind if Udacity says: We want the grading to be water proof and rock solid - and we need some vacation first - and later we need two additional weeks to re-programm our grading-system, please be patient, remember: This course is free of charge and we have other business to do too.
That would be fair, of course.

But waiting without any explanation puts my nerves on edge :-)

Yup.

Please Udacity, put up a release date for the results next time. Unless your want your progresspage "naturally DDos'ed" by all our clicking!!!

I just keep telling myself that in a real college class I wouldn't get my final exam results immediately either. (That doesn't stop me from clicking on the Progress link and refreshing madly 20 times a day though ;-) )

Hey guys, you know you could resubmit all your answers and get an immediate (though preliminary) result already (as I was reminded of myself by @Tom Vandenbosch)?
Have fun!

I see ... but treat your index fingers with care, who knows what "in a couple of days" could mean!

I do want to know my reults too

but knowing all the bugs there were in the system

I'm not going to click on the exam questions unitl I have the official result --

I don't want to confuse the grading robots by sudden wanting to submit a new answer

@Michaela: Peter from Udacity confirmed that doing this will not currupt your submissions!

I am pressing it so often that it is starting to wear off on the screen :D

I want to know my final score but in the what matters is that overall I am happy with my progress so the score
is important but it will just be a piece of paper in the end !

Yes, I find myself checking the progress tab and the forums in case there is something others know that I don't. For example, without checking on the forum I would not have known how to check my exam submissions for correct/incorrect.

I agree with @Stefan re. communication and I upvoted it.

too many times! I think i've done well and I just want my grade so that I can concentrate on the next two classes that I've decided to take.

I'm happy to wait though. I'm sure they want to get it right as they have had a couple of bugs here and there. They're still in beta after all.

Good luck with your final grade.
